We are seeking a talented, social media savvy Publicity Manager to join the dynamic PR team at William Collins. The home of many bestselling literary authors - from Brian Cox, Max Hastings and Sir David Attenborough to Cathy Newman, Helena Morrissey, Ronan Farrow and Christina Lamb - William Collins has a hugely varied and exciting list.

This role is ideal for someone currently in a Press Officer role, a publicist who is ready for a challenge, more responsibility and a great mix of titles. You will plan, organise and implement your own campaigns, across a wide range of titles from history, biography and politics to memoir, natural history and religion.

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic publicist, passionate about literary Non-Fiction. Someone who is a great team player with the ability to secure high profile media coverage that reaches new audiences and drives sales for established as well as up and coming authors.


  • Devise and manage creative, targeted multi-media PR campaigns across a wide range of authors and genres.
  • Write creative, attention grabbing press and news releases.
  • Work closely with journalists, festivals and relevant third parties to secure high impact, strategic coverage.
  • Work within the parameters of a campaign budget.
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, editorial and overseas offices to deliver a coordinated campaign.
  • Work closely with and frequently update authors, their agents and their wider teams.
  • Manage, create content for and grow William Collins' social media presence, both for authors and the imprint, especially Twitter.

Key Skills/Experience

  • Proven experience in running successful, profit driving PR and social media campaigns for big name authors/brands.
  • Experience in launching new authors and seeking innovative methods to promote them.
  • Adept at managing and creating content across social media platforms.
  • Experience of leveraging social media and online communities.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Experience in planning large scale author tours.
  • Experience in handling all aspects of author PR, from large scale events to crisis management.
  • Ability to react quickly to news stories.
  • Superb contacts across the media and awareness of the key literary festivals/platforms.
  • An enthusiastic team player with the ability to work autonomously and with initiative.
  • Creative and innovative.
  • Highly organised and proactive.

We're based in the News Building which we share with our News UK and Dow Jones colleagues in the newly-established London Bridge Quarter, opposite the famous Borough Market. Our new open-plan office has amazing views across London, and includes a variety of break-out areas to aid inspiration and a collaborative approach, a multi-media suite, and a fabulous canteen floor and book shop.
