Overview of the Role

In line with the Children's marketing strategy, the Children's Marketing Executive will support the front list campaign team with the implementation of fully integrated marketing campaigns, designed to drive profitable sales of Children's titles, developing and strengthening key author brands. The role focuses on launching new titles by authors - whether long established, up and coming, or debut - and has a strong digital and social media bias.

The Marketing Executive will deliver across both business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing needs. The role will work closely with the Sales, Publicity and International teams to develop highly creative consumer and retail marketing campaigns across physical, digital and audio product.


  • Support the implementation of marketing campaign initiatives that achieve impact and cut through across a range of channels including radio, OOH, print, mobile, social, email, digital (inc search), video, and events
  • Support the Marketing Director, Campaign Director, Digital Marketing Director and Campaign Manager to ensure campaigns run smoothly, on time, and on budget
  • Collate and organise digital and print marketing assets and ensure the marketing folder is up to date and filed logically
  • Create, test and send emails on time and own the email schedule and email reporting
  • Assist in the maintenance of the HCCB websites, including (and not limited to) The World of David Walliams, Skulduggery Pleasant, Michael Morpurgo and The Tiger Who Came to Tea.
  • Implement pre-defined social media posts, and monitor performance of social media channels and HarperCollins Childrens' websites and report on their performance
  • Support and collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure that all proposed competitions are well structured, legal and suit the objectives of the campaign. Maintain a written record of all competitions.
  • Build relationships with central marketing, the corporate comms team, and Collins education team to champion regular social and email coverage for our books
  • Support the Digital Marketing Director to produce fortnightly ad hock email newsletters, in line with Cultural Calendar and Marketing campaigns
  • Assist with digital advertising such as Google AdWords
  • Document campaign activity, adding creative and results to M&P plans
  • Generate professional and persuasive B2B communications for use by UK, international and special sales channels to enable sales teams to successfully bring new products to market and strengthen HarperCollins' profile within the industry
  • Ensure that all administration enabling control and visibility of marketing spend is up-to-date and accurate, including raising POs and setting up new suppliers. This will involve working closely with the campaign owners.
  • Achieve smooth running of team meetings; this includes organisation, agenda circulation, room booking, equipment organisation, minute taking and circulation
  • Keep the Culture Calendar up to date and share with key stakeholders (weekly)
  • Work in collaboration with all internal teams

Skills / Experience

  • Experience in managing content on Wordpress websites.
  • Social media savvy and experience of digital marketing
  • Previous experience of marketing in the publishing industry or fast-paced creative environment
  • Previous experience in stakeholder management
  • CMS and Email marketing
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong sense of prioritisation
  • Great attention to detail
  • Strong eye for design
  • Results focused, numerate and used to working in a highly pressurised environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Copywriting and copyediting skills
