We're looking for a Junior Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial Finance team in Fiction, NonFiction and Avon. The successful candidate will assist the Commercial Finance team as directed in completing forecasts and budgets, acquisition process, month end financial reporting requirements and various other commercial and strategic support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting on a quarterly basis
  • Ensuring that the timing and phasing of the future releases are accurately reflected in the budget and forecast
  • Work with other areas of the business (e.g. editorial, sales, production and marketing) to gain relevant information to help compile budget and forecast
  • Input/update budget/forecast in Hyperion Planning Finance system
  • Review and report on previous published book performance
  • Assist in preparation of investment cases for new acquisitions
  • Assist in month end analysis of actual performance of the division against forecast and budget
  • Assist in preparation of reports for monthly divisional executive meetings, including month end commercial pack
  • To assist the commercial manager when required to provide the division with financial information to assist with further commercial decisions

Key Skills/Experience

  • Strong academic background
  • Demonstrated desire to work in a commercial finance team / previous financial experience
  • Previous experience in a professional environment
  • Numerate and strong on detail
  • Mature and organised approach, self-starter, able to take the initiative
  • Excellent administrator
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Flexible approach to work
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Confident with working with both finance and non finance staff
