Our Group Finance team are looking for a Finance Data Analyst to join them. As part of the Data Analysis team the successful candidate will provide timely and accurate reporting of sales data to the business. In addition to preparing recurring periodic sales reports, work with senior finance staff to produce ad hoc pieces of analysis as required by the business. The Finance Data Analyst will ensure that all digital revenues are accurately reflected in the accounts of the business, including the accurate and prompt processing of monthly digital invoicing data.

This role would suit someone with a strong numerical aptitude wishing to start their career in finance, and with a willingness to take responsibility for a distinct area of the business as well as develop and improve processes.

Responsibilities

Billed and Consumer Sales Reporting

  • Processing all sales data files received from physical retailers
  • Prepare and distribute various daily, weekly and monthly sales reports to the wider business

Ad hoc Sales Reporting

  • Using database tools to retrieve sales data
  • Assistance in developing new sales reporting tools

Monthly digital processing

  • Processing all sales files received from ebook retailers and intercompany
  • Liaising with any retailers to resolve issues
  • Identifying any affiliate company titles within reporting and passing data and revenue through intercompany to affiliate company
  • Calculating commission payable on sales of UK titles in affiliate territories
  • Setting up new customers

Calculating accrued digital income

  • Due to the delay in receiving data from retailers, calculate an estimate of revenue in the month by using weekly epos data

Monthly reporting

  • Preparation of monthly P&Ls for the digital business

Ad hoc assistance

  • Assist Sales & Commercial Operations Manager on various ad hoc tasks

Key Skills/Experience

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Some work experience in similar financial environment would be desirable
  • Working knowledge of Excel
  • Basic finance double entry
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to process large amount of data accurately and quickly
  • Knowledge of Hyperion, Business Objects or similar database query tools would be desirable
  • Co-operative and able to establish relationships with colleagues both international and within the wider group
  • Able to converse effectively with senior finance staff
  • Able to convey financial information to non-finance staff
  • Curious and self-motivated
