In addition, we also publish the works of Agatha Christie, JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis.

Our Mills & Boon team are looking for an Editor to join them. This role is responsible for many aspects of the publishing including scheduling, theming collections, metadata, critical path and working closely with the Mills & Boon marketing team and production teams to ensure the smooth running and delivery of Mills & Boon titles every month.

This is an exciting role that sits in the centre of the UK Mills & Boon business. It requires a clear understanding of the inter-dependency of all areas of the publishing process and the ability to ensure a significant workload delivers on all aspects of the critical path; foreseeing potential issues and dealing with all members of a large, collaborative team in a positive and productive way.


  • Acquiring and managing a bespoke list of commercial romance authors for the Mills & Boon Trade list.
  • Creating and delivering a strategy to build and grow the trade list to grow revenue for the Mills & Boon brand.
  • Ownership of and main point of contact for the Mills & Boon series books.
  • Managing the editorial process for Mills & Boon series: Heroes, Desire & True Love.
  • Working with Sales and Marketing to select themes and stories for key UK series.
  • Working with other departments where necessary to support books through the production process.
  • Working with colleagues internationally (editorial or operational) - such as the Harlequin NA office.
  • Scheduling and systems (Plan G / HERs) management.
  • Ownership of metadata/AIs with appropriate attention to detail.
  • Manage all workflows required to publish books successfully, profitably and in line with critical path for the Mills & Boon list.
  • Proofreading all series front covers for metadata compliance, all series and collections artwork, consumer newsletters and fliers.
  • Create all book records and ensure coordinated systems (HERs/Plan G)
  • Ensure that Sales, International Sales, Audio, Digital Sales and Rights teams have all the advance sales information that they require.
  • Ensure a strong awareness of the romance market in retail and digital publishing
  • Working in conjunction with the in-house digital sales team to constantly build the position of Mills & Boon books in the market.
  • Attend relevant design and marketing meetings to help ensure best in class publishing and overall strategic cohesion.

We're based in the News Building which we share with our News UK and Dow Jones colleagues in the newly-established London Bridge Quarter, opposite the famous Borough Market. Our new open-plan office has amazing views across London, and includes a variety of break-out areas to aid inspiration and a collaborative approach, a multi-media suite, and a fabulous canteen floor and book shop.
