In addition, we also publish the works of Agatha Christie, JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis.

Our Children's division is looking for an Editor to join them. A key member of the editorial team, this role encompasses a range of titles across the Media and Brands and Picture Books. The position offers a rare opportunity to be involved in all aspects of children's colour publishing, from pitching to title development and full editorial responsibility.


  • Developing content and formats, briefing production for costings, briefing writers, copy editing, proofreading, copywriting and writing design briefs
  • Seeing titles through from development to finished copies
  • Working on pitches and acquisitions
  • Keeping abreast of character and brand launches in TV and Toy arenas as well as online
  • Managing relevant editorial listings (AIS, BIC, Acquisitions, P&Ls) to ensure accurate and up-to-date title/list information is available internally and externally
  • Liaising with licensors and writers/authors; managing freelance copyeditors and proof readers
  • Working collaboratively with design and production internally
  • Supporting the publisher across the list

Key Skills/Experience

  • Demonstrable editorial experience in licensed or pre-school children's publishing
  • Creativity with an innovative approach to format and content development
  • An understanding of the licensor/publisher relationship and managing publishing assets
  • Exceptional copyediting and proofreading skills
  • Extremely organised, efficient and self-motivated
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good design eye
  • Flair and passion for children's characters and brands essential
  • An active interest in emerging trends online and in the physical world
  • Enthusiasm and energy are key for a positive member of vibrant and creative team

We're based in the News Building which we share with our News UK and Dow Jones colleagues in the newly-established London Bridge Quarter, opposite the famous Borough Market. Our new open-plan office has amazing views across London, and includes a variety of break-out areas to aid inspiration and a collaborative approach, a multi-media suite, and a fabulous canteen floor and book shop.
