Our publishing for schools continues to deliver up-to-date and engaging student resources and exceptional teacher support to help schools tackle new initiatives and utilise the latest technology. We produce resources for UK and International curricula to support teachers and pupils at school and outside the classroom environment.

An editor who can support the Product Development team in ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard through a variety of administrative and editorial tasks, while developing a growing understanding of editorial process. You will be keen to learn, and looking to develop your capabilities in the following areas of print and digital publishing: briefing and managing copy editorial, proofreading, design and illustration; project management; content development; commissioning; author management; contracts and legal.

Responsibilities

  • Supports senior project lead in contractual admin, cost requests etc.
  • Ensures good and timely communication with authors.
  • Administrative tasks involved with set up and management of copy-editorial, design and proofreading.
  • Manages some external contributors/freelancers
  • Runs final checks on MS before passing to design, manages resolution of queries
  • Collates comments on proofs, manages resolution of queries
  • Conducts picture research
  • Manages cover processes from agreed concept to final cover
  • Editorial administrative support for ongoing product management
  • May copy-edit and/or proofread if required
  • Manages and records plant spend vs budget with support from line manager
  • May run small projects with support from a Product Developer
  • Helps us to continually refine and improve our processes

We're based in the News Building which we share with our News UK and Dow Jones colleagues in the newly-established London Bridge Quarter, opposite the famous Borough Market. Our new open-plan office has amazing views across London, and includes a variety of break-out areas to aid inspiration and a collaborative approach, a multi-media suite, and a fabulous canteen floor and book shop.
