Mills & Boon is the UK's number one publisher of romantic fiction. The Mills & Boon team are looking for a Direct Marketing Manager to join us in marketing Mills & Boon books across multiple channels, online and offline, including acquisition and retention of members for our Direct Mail Book Club. The Mills & Boon team are fun, dynamic and hard-working, publishing over 100 new titles every month, promoting and selling our books to romance fans through our website, Book Club and key retail partners, and communicating with audiences across social media, PR and marketing activity. This is a brilliant opportunity for a marketer with Direct Mail marketing experience, in a wide-ranging role within a multi-disciplinary team.


Mills & Boon Book Club (Direct Mail)

  • Monitor and execute current acquisition, upselling and retention strategies and work with the M&B team to test new strategies, to increase the Book Club market contribution.
  • Manage the briefing, production and printing of all printed Book Club materials, including our quarterly 'Romance' magazine, ensuring they are produced to a high standard and are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Analyst to create marketing and fulfilment plans to communicate offers and campaigns to Customer Services team.
  • Act as key point of contact for Customer Services team.
  • Select stock for book club upselling offers and clearance activity.
  • Monitor, create and replenish premia items for Book Club activity.

Brand Marketing Activities

  • Liaise with editorial team to create content for use in marketing materials and on the Mills & Boon blog.
  • Suggest ideas for on-brand communications and offer creative input for title, author or seasonal led marketing activities to promote Mills & Boon books across all channels.
  • Work with the marketing team to create schedule of monthly activity to promote book, authors and seasonal opportunities across website, blog and social media, briefing any design assets required, and contributing to campaign ideas, creation and completion.
  • Assist marketing team with brand led events and campaigns.

Product Management

  • Liaise with Design and Editorial teams to input on Mills & Boon cover art sign-off.
  • Work with editorial on creating themed upselling offers and bundles for print and ebooks.
  • Create and manage endpage design, checking and allocation in Mill & Boon series books.
  • Maintain internal spreadsheets to communicate offers and products across the Mills & Boon list.
